Blood, I had 4 tests done. Then 2 ultrasounds. All came back fine, but since I didn’t get period for 3 months they diagnosed me with PCOS, and now I am taking Provera and Clomid and just ovulated so I’m at the 2ww. Meds don’t cost a lot, but ultrasounds do.
I’m actually wondering the same questions but I think I’m having to wait until Monday to call my insurance b/c that’s what the doctors office will tell you to do b/c they’re not in charge of what’s covered and anyone’s guess isn’t going to be any good to you (or me..) b/c it only depends on your insurance coverage. I think the first types of tests are: blood tests for you (and spouse-if you choose/// I wish I had DH do this at same time as me, now a year later he’s going to get it done..) Also, Ultrasound and or other graphic or Xrays to measure you and see if there are any signs or abnormalities- then if everything is still looking normal (Which is the point that I’m at now.. 14 months after first trying and 2 MC later…) Husband=blood test and then we’ll both get our chromosomes checked (Which I’m not sure what that procedure consists of… hence, I’m on this site looking for an answer ) I hope this helped in any way~ Good luck to you~
They will prob start with a lot of blood work that can cost a few hundred dollars. First thing u should do is contact your insurance company and see what your plan covers, if ur planning on going to see a fertility dr they prob will do all that for u (mine did) some of the first treatments to help u concieve aren’t terribly expensive, clomid should just be a copay and it helps with ovulation. You might even discover that ur insurance will cover more expensive treatments. My insurance covered invetro fully I paid only office copays so def check with them. Best of luck to you! P.S beware of multiples!
