IUD’s don’t prevent you from getting pregnant. Just prevent the baby from implanting….so if you want to have a MINI ABORTION every month go for it cause it doesn’t have anything to do with the ovaries. But personally, I couldn’t live with that. I’d try some other kind like a norplant that uses different kinds of hormones than the pill.

I have had paragard and mirena. Paragard causes a very heavy period. Mirena causes bad acne. But both of them can be taken out whenever you want and get can pregnant right away!!

I feel the exact same way about pills and injections - they make me fat and grumpy. I LOVE the paraguard IUD and it doesn’t cause infertility, just somewhat heavier periods which is no biggie for me. It’s extremely effective over the long term and used by more women worldwide than any other kind of contraceptive. It was a bit uncomfortable upon insertion at my doc’s office, but that was the only trouble I ever had with it. No problems with fertility - I’m currently 39 weeks pregnant at age 33 with my first baby after 5 years of using it. When we removed it I got pregnant in 4 months which is faster than average for a woman of my age. I am definitely going back to it after my daughter is born.
