Hi there, this is what one of my best friends is facing (we’re in London). She had her first baby in May 2009, and four months later got pregnant with her second! She’s going back to work 1 Feb, and will be in her job for three months and a week before going on mat leave again. I don’t think her employer is very impressed - but she is legally entitled to take the second lot of mat leave because, as you say, all the usual work entitlements continue.

Her employer will be less than impressed when she announces while on the second lot of mat leave that she’s moving to New Zealand…!

Congratulations! No doubt you know full well that you’ll have your hands full, but on the other hand it’ll be nice to have them close in age and get through the development stages fairly quickly!

I dont know to be honest and dont think I’ll ever find out, thats to make of a close age gap for me!

Surpose it all depends on your employer, whether they are willing to keep you on and let you have maternity leave again, or they could just sack you I guess.

Why would you get pregnant so soon after having a baby? your baby is only 15 weeks old. i guess thats something you need to ask your JOB..

You go back to work at the end of your leave, then get yet another maternity leave when the second baby is due.

this actually happened to me. i had my 1st mat leave then straight in to the annual leave i had accrued then straight into the next mat leave. i got pregnant with my 2nd when my 1st was 11 wks old, (he was ivf and the 2nd was a big suprisde!)

You would be entitled to maternity leave again when the second baby is due. You would need to check how the finances work though, especially if you are on leave during your qualifying period.
