I hate to sound mean but ALOT! I had both my kids thru fertility specialist without insurance help. Insurance would cover once I got pregnant but would not help get me pregnant. I saw dr weekly and daily when i ovulated, weekly until pregnancy testing then daily until pregnancy was confirmed. Dr visits can cost anywhere from $40-$100 depending on where you live, ultrasounds are $125 each time and I would have about 3-4 per month, medication expenses and then blood tests to confirm or deny pregnancy.

Our testing alone cost my dh and I about $6500 dollars. Partly because there were quite a few mandatory blood tests that we had to take before they would do treatments and that cost us over $3000 dollars.

After the testing my first 3 IUI’s with Clomid and a Trigger shot cost us about $1500 a month.

Our 1 month of IUI with Clomid, injectibles, and trigger shot cost us about $3,000. Fortunately we were successful that month and didn’t have to continue. We did not need IVF which my doctor told me could cost around $25,000 a try.

I would go in and see your doctor and tell him that you are wanting to have a baby and see if they can just do the normal pap smear and blood work up to make sure you are healthy and ask where they proceed from there.

Some doctors will do medication first, some will do other options.

I would speak to the doctor, explain the situation and see what avenue he wants to pursue before getting all worked up over the cost and you may not have to spend a ton out of pocket.

    Hope that helps some
