Our first appointment was a whole lot of talking. We went over my medical history, my family history, my husband’s medical and family histories, any testing that we had completed and any testing the doctor wanted us to schedule. We talked about treatments in basic terms and we discussed our doctors philosophy when it comes to multiple births (he liked to reduce high-order multiples whenever possible). We talked about how long we had been trying and my cycle etc . . .

After that, our RE wanted to do his own testing so we had more bloodwork, an HSG to check the tubes (they might not do this as it sounds as if you had it done), semen anlysis for my husband. We then had a follow up appointment to go over the results and plan treatment.

I found it to be a good experience - it felt good to be doing SOMETHING to try to conceive. If felt good to have a doctor helping us and it gave me a lot of hope.

It was a long journey - our diagnosis was unexplained infertility. We tried 3 IUI cycles with Clomid and HCG and 3 IUI cycles with injectibles . . . all ended in failure. We then moved onto IVF and now have 15 month old twins from our first cycle. Definitely a long journey but so worth it!

    Good luck and baby dust!
