  1. Trzcina Says:

If she’s four months old, there’s no way you should even be considering breeding her. Generally, dogs have their first heat around six months, and then every six months thereafter. It’s not wise to breed a dog on every heat, and not before 1 1/2–preferably 2–years of age. Especially with breeds like Labs, it is highly recommended that you wait until the dog is at least two years old and has been tested free of hip and elbow dysplasia and eye defects, as well as any other health problems known in the breed.

More information on what one should consider before breeding a Lab can be found here: http://www.thelabradorclub.com/
If you are interested in eventually breeding your dog, I highly recommend that you either show her in conformation or actively use her as a hunt/field trial dog, and I would strongly advise you to have an experienced and reputable breeder of the bloodline you prefer–show or working–examine her and give you an objective opinion of her conformation, temperament, and whether or not breeding her would be beneficial to the breed. This contact with a reputable breeder will also be of great help to you in finding a stud should everything work out and you decide you really are ready for puppies.

Raising a litter is an expensive and time-consuming effort that does not end when the pups go home. You must be willing to provide backup to the owners of those pups for the dogs’ lives; if the new owner is unable to keep the dog for some reason, you should have a plan on how to take the dog back and rehome him/her, or at the very least be able to arrange for a good home or foster in between time. Please consider carefully before undertaking this.

I’m almost positive you are just a troll trying to ruffle some feathers…..

For the sake of argument though, you should NOT breed your dog. No female dog should ever be bred prior to 2 years of age. At only 4 months old, there’s no way you could have possibly done the testing needed to make sure she’s a good candidate to breed. There’s no way she’s won any awards or certificates for the breed. There’s no way she’d be able to safely carry a litter to term. There’s no way a reputable breeder would even consider offering you their stud. End of discussion.

a puppy thats 4 months old should NOT get pregnant. Dogs shouldn’t have puppies til they’re at least a year old. And even then you still might want to wait

  4. Rotten Rotts Says:

4 months old is too young, the minimum age for a safe pregnancy is 2 years. It is very likely that she will die.
She does not give birth to pay checks, have her spayed

  5. Rayven-Fried Sea Kittens Anyone? Says:

Don’t you have another section to troll in?

While its highly unlike a four month old puppy would be in heat it is possible and the fact (if this is true) that you would even consider letting a PUPPY have its own litter shows you need to be tossed into traffic. You do realize your dog could DIE right?

  10. Kate M Says:

You take her to the vet and get her spayed. Then you don’t have to worry about breeding.

  11. Kristen 16 Says:

she is way to young and there are enough dogs in shelter and we don’t want more. don’t get me wrong, i love dogs a lot but i hate seeing so many in shelters!

First of all, that’s WAY to young,

Second of all, say your dog had 9 pups, that’s 9 perfectly healthy dogs in a shelter KILLED!!!!!

  13. john ross Says:

She is too young to breed. "You" cannot get her pregnant and shouldn’t try. If you were to breed her you should wait at least 2 years. She is awfully young to even be in heat.

  14. kris Says:

if you want to do that at 4 months then you shouldn’t even have a dog, she should aleast be 1 years old before you even consider it

  15. AngelFire Says:

at least make it interesting like you’re going to breed it to a Saint bernard, and have been feeding your female old roy with bacon grease or something…
