I had a HSG because I wasn't getting pregnant…In some cases an HSG can unblock the tubes on its own. They close off your cervix and push a dye up inside and through your fallopian tubes looking for blockages. Sometime if there is a blockage the dye can push it out. That happened to my Aunt…she was pregnant within 4 weeks of teh HSG. MY advice is take a couple of tylenol before the procedure (about 15 min before) as it is a little uncomfortable. Also take a pantyliner with you as there is a little blood and discharge (fromt he dye) after as well. Try and relax…with any luck it will help you get pregnant.

I had an HSG done, not for the same reason as you, but I can tell you about it. An HSG involves dye being injected into your cervix via catheter while an x-ray is taken to see the tubes and to see if they are blocked.

Be prepared for some cramping, take some ibuprofen before the procedure.

I have heard that some women do become pregnant after an HSG, possibly b/c of the dye "pushing out" whatever was blocking the tube. However, if it's a very serious block, then something else needs to be done. I'm pretty sure that they can take care of it via laparoscopy.

I wish you all the best!

I've my hsg done yesterday, i don't want to scare you but it was the worst pain i ever had experienced even i had had pain killer + tranquilizer. I suggest you to take strong pain killer. On the other hand some people get over it very easily depends on your tubes. It hurts more if you have blocked tubes. The dye flows out the small blockages as far as i know. So if your problem is blocked tubes, you might have more chance to get pregnant after hsg.

    Good luck&baby dust
