Laparoscopy is mostly done for diagnostic reasons. It gives the doctor an idea if there are abdominal or pelvic problems. The advantage of having one is that if there is a problem, such as ovarian cysts, fibroids or adhesions (which can all be the reason why you can't get pregnant), the doctor can treat those problems right there and then during the laparoscopy. All of that will be done with a scope through small incisions in your abdomen, which is also an advantage. The doctor can go though your belly button, so minimal scarring and little downtime. You can read more on laparoscopy here: http://www.wvfc.com/basic-fertility-treatment.html. So, don't worry, laparoscopy is one of the best fertility treatments you can have.

to find out if there are any major issues that an ultrasound cant determine. I just 2 weeks ago had a laproscopy done, found out I had a 4.3 cm cyst and stage 4 endometriosis. My DH & I had been ttc#2 for 20 monhts, now we know why I havent been able to get pregnant!

    Good Luck
