If you keep the baby you can stay in the navy or get out you get the choice. They will probably put you at a desk job for the length of your pregnancy, if you are on sea duty they may transfer you to a shore duty command. You will get maternity leave once the baby is born, it does not count against your leave balance. I would highly suggest keeping the baby in the Navy, you have great health care for it you make good money and so on. If you currently live in the barracks you will be entitled to BAH with dependents or base housing whichever you choose. You will also qualify for government programs such as WIC to help with food costs and so on. I think having a baby in the Navy is the way to go. I hope this helps. You can talk with Fleet and Family services for more advice, they are there to help.
i dont know what happens with the whole abortion deal and i really dont want to know. I do know when your pregnant and in the military they dont really do nothing. You can only be discharged if you want to be, they cant make you get out because you are pregnant. you will get anywhere between 6-8 weeks if not more for maternity leave. If your in the military and pregnant you will be fine.
I was active duty in the Navy when I had my son. I was on sea rotation and all they did was put me on a shore rotation until I had the baby. When i had the baby they gave me six weeks off. The Navy has a new rule that you stay on shore rotation for one year after your child is born.
No they can't kick you out for being pregnant!!!!
If you have a abortion they will not give you time off, try to work the time off after an abortion thru your chain of command.
I know a girl who got an abortion. You have to tell medical that you are going. They can give you a list if you want. This way if anything happens to you at the clinic, the Navy already knows and is prepared. Also, if any complications arise afterwards they will work with you.
After your procedure they will give you a limited duty notice that you have to give to medical so they can convert it to a Navy-Medical LLD chit. Don't ever leave the Navy in the dark about anything. It can only hurt you.
